Gábor Török

Historian, political scientist, political analyst. Born 1971. august 11th in Szombathely.

STUDIES. Graduated from Nagy Lajos Secondary School, located in Szombathely, in 1989. Received his diplomas from the Eötvös Loránd University (Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetem, ELTE.) in history and political-theory, both with distinction. In 1997  placed first in the National Academic Student Conference. Received the Pro Scientia gold-medal in 1998 for excellence in studies and preeminent academic achievement. Earned his PhD summa cum laude from the ELTE’s Faculty of Law and Political Sciences in 2005.    

TEACHING. Teaches at the Corvinus University of Budapest since 1997. Currently, head of the Center for Political Analysis at the universities Institute of Political Science. Associate Professor since 2012. Awarded a certificate of merit by the rector of the university in 2005 in appreciation of his teaching and research work. Received the „ Teacher of the year” award in 2008.

RESEARCH. Specializes in the analysis of the political system following the regime change, as well as in political and strategic analysis; wrote his doctoral dissertation on the topic of political agendas. Writer, co-writer or editor of eight books, of which two are widely used university text-books in Hungary. Elected the secretary-general of the Hungarian Political Association for three years respectively in the years 2000 and 2003. Member of the presidium of the association from 2006 to 2015.

ANALYSIS, COUNSEL. Director of Vision Politics since 2002. Is frequently invited to appear on television and in radio-programs focusing on politics. During the parliamentary elections in 1998 was the expert of TV3, in 2002 that of TV2, and in 2006 MTV. Head of the Political Expert Institute created by the Alliance of Free Democrats - Hungarian Liberal Party (SZDSZ) from 1998 to 2000. Member of the political advisory council of the President of Hungary, László Sólyom from 2006 to 2010.
